The Wheaton community is mourning the sudden loss of Richard Dirk Schilling, a devoted family man and respected CPA, who passed away unexpectedly on January 5, 2025. Born in Dixon, Illinois, on May 5, 1968, Dirk was the eldest of three children.
He graduated from Dixon High School in 1986 and Northern Illinois University in 1990 with a degree in accounting. Dirk’s professional career spanned over three decades, during which he established Schilling & Associates, a CPA firm renowned for its personal touch and professionalism.
Dirk’s greatest joy was his family. A loving husband to Shelley and a proud father to Sydney and Rich, he poured his heart into their lives, whether cheering at sports events or analyzing game stats. His passion for the Chicago Bears and golf was matched by his dedication to his church and philanthropic causes like the Werthy Foundation.
Friends and family will celebrate Dirk’s life at Gary United Methodist Church in Wheaton on January 10 and 11, 2025. His legacy of love, generosity, and commitment will be carried on by his family and all who knew him.
