On December 31, 2024, the world lost a bright light with the passing of Jamison Carol Jones, 22, and her unborn baby girl. Jamison was born on February 27, 2002, to Dwayne Jones, now of Washington, NC, and Sheryl and Joel Mayle of Pleasant Hill, NC. The loss of Jamison and her child has left an irreplaceable gap in the lives of all who knew her, but her legacy of love, joy, and strength will continue to inspire those she touched.
Jamison was known for her boundless energy and her ability to light up any room she entered. A lover of dance from a young age, she spent years studying at Emporia Dance Studio, where her talent and passion shone brightly. Dance was not only a form of expression for Jamison but a way for her to connect with the world around her, and she carried that passion with her throughout her life.
Family was everything to Jamison. She had an especially deep bond with her nephew, Asher, and her cousins, Emma, Hudson Carter, and Caroline Gil. She loved children, and it was no secret that her greatest dream was to become a mother herself. Jamison’s nurturing spirit and natural connection with little ones were evident in the way she cared for and cherished every child she encountered.
Jamison’s relationship with her father, Dwayne, was particularly special. As a “daddy’s girl,” she treasured every moment spent with him and always looked forward to their time together. Her strong will and fierce independence were balanced by a tender, caring side that she reserved for those closest to her.
Described as a “wildflower,” Jamison was unapologetically herself. She was straightforward and unafraid to speak her mind, yet she had a softness that only a few were lucky enough to witness. Jamison’s spirit and authenticity made her unforgettable to everyone who crossed her path. While she had a tough exterior, her loving heart and unwavering strength defined her character.
Jamison was saved at a young age, and her family finds comfort in the faith they shared with her. Although her passing has left them devastated, they take solace in knowing they will one day see her beautiful face again.
A Celebration of Life for Jamison will take place on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Zion Baptist Church in Emporia, VA. Rev. Jim Cox and Rev. Larry Grizzard will officiate the service. In honor of Jamison’s memory, memorial contributions can be made to Bethel Baptist Church in Pleasant Hill, NC, or the Family Violence and Sexual Assault Unit in Emporia, VA.
Jamison’s life may have been tragically short, but her love, energy, and laughter will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Rest in peace, Jamison. You will never be forgotten.
