The life of Kale Ervin Mueller, though tragically short, was one marked by laughter, adventure, and a deep love for his family and friends. Kale, who passed away on December 18, 2024, at the age of 11, brought boundless energy and joy to everyone around him. Born on May 10, 2013, in Effingham, Illinois, Kale was a source of light in his family and community, always ready with a joke, a smile, and an infectious laugh.
Kale, the son of Ervin A. Mueller II and Brooke (Johnson) Mueller, was a brother who turned every day into an exciting adventure. His siblings, Tanner Price and Kierra Mueller, shared countless joyful memories with him. Kale’s grandparents, Ron and Duckie Johnson, were instrumental in shaping the kind and humorous young boy that Kale became. His love for his family was clear, as was his ability to make everyone around him smile.
A 6th grader at Stewardson-Strasburg School, Kale was known for his sense of humor and his ability to make learning enjoyable. He was a student who could lift the spirits of his classmates and teachers alike. Kale’s role at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effingham was just as vital; he embodied the joy of faith, reminding everyone that spirituality and laughter can go hand in hand.
Kale’s adventurous spirit extended beyond school and church. He was an avid sports fan, particularly of the St. Louis Cardinals, and loved playing baseball and basketball. Whether he was out hunting, riding four-wheelers, or building intricate Lego creations, Kale’s enthusiasm for life never wavered. He also enjoyed simple pleasures like playing cards and charades, where his humor was always front and center.
His family, friends, and the greater Stew-Stras community will forever remember Kale as a source of joy, love, and laughter. A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at the Stew-Stras Junior High Gymnasium, with funeral services on Monday, December 23, 2024, at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Memorials may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran LYF or WSS Sportsbackers in Kale’s memory.
