The West Clermont School District and the greater Cincinnati community are grieving the loss of Kevin Thacker, principal of Clough Pike Elementary, who passed away on January 2nd, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Kevin’s remarkable 26-year career in education leaves a legacy of dedication, leadership, and compassion.
Kevin joined the West Clermont School District in 1999 as an assistant principal at Glen Este Middle School and became principal two years later. His leadership journey continued at Clough Pike Elementary in 2011, where he tirelessly worked to create an environment of academic excellence and community connection. His efforts impacted countless students, families, and staff members over the years, earning him a reputation as an inspiring and compassionate leader.
As the district’s longest-serving administrator, Kevin was a mentor to many principals and educators. His colleagues admired his ability to lead with integrity, kindness, and high expectations. Kevin’s influence reached beyond his official roles; he was a trusted confidant, a role model, and a steady source of encouragement for everyone he encountered.
Outside of his professional life, Kevin’s selflessness defined him. He was always ready to help a friend, family member, or even a stranger in need, often putting the needs of others above his own. Whether he was rehabbing a house or tackling a project, Kevin approached every task with the same dedication and heart that he brought to his career.
Kevin’s love for his family was at the center of his life. He is survived by his wife, Ann; his daughters, Brooke and Alexis; and his parents, Walt and Vera. An avid sports fan, Kevin had a particular passion for the Crimson Tide, a love that brought him joy and connection with others.
The loss of Kevin Thacker is deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy will continue to inspire the West Clermont School District and the many lives he touched throughout his incredible journey.
